Free Sugar Theme, Training, and More!

Amanda Anderson | Jan 3, 2013

Epicom kicks off the new year with a little holiday spirit.

Yesterday was my first day back at the office in 2013. Our tree is still up and there are leftover candy canes and holiday cookies in the breakroom. There’s no sign that the holidays are over here at Epicom, so what better time, than now, to give away a few gifts to the Sugar community for FREE.

1) Google Theme for SugarCRM:
Licensed versions of SugarCRM come preloaded with different themes or skins to choose from. Users can change the colors and design of their individual Sugar account by switching the theme style in the user’s settings. One of Epicom’s engineers, Danny Mulvihill, built a Google theme for SugarCRM as one of his side projects. The styling mimics the look and feel of Google’s navigation menu, search bar, buttons, and color scheme.

Note (10/2/13): We have removed the link to github where the code was posted. There was a major issue with the code and our developer has taken it down temporarily.

Update(1/8/2014): The theme was built by one of our engineers as a side project. There was a lot of interest so we posted the code for free online for others to expand on. We took the theme down a few months ago due to a large number of issues with the code. We intended to clean it up and repost. Since Sugar 7 has a new interface, the theme is no longer useful for licensed versions and there are several other more developed themes for CE already. It’s difficult for us to work on a free product and we don’t enforce what our engineers work on for their fun side project and we no longer have any intention on reposting the code or putting additional effort into it.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

2) SugarCRM Training Videos:
Our video library includes short SugarCRM training videos hosted by Epicom engineers. Topics include reporting, email campaigns, sales forecasting, admin setup, and more!

To view our online training videos, CLICK HERE.

3) Online SugarCRM User Group:
A webcast series for Sugar users to receive free Sugar training, learn CRM best practices, and share implementation techniques. The next webcast is on January 29th and will cover Reporting in SugarCRM.

To register for the next webcast, CLICK HERE.

4) SugarCRM Code Base Search Engine:
Quickens and simplifies the process for developers who are searching for specific pieces of code in SugarCRM’s code base. Epicom’s search engine is free to the Sugar community and enables developers to run a quick search across many versions of Sugar simultaneously.

To read more about this Search Engine, CLICK HERE.

While we can’t give everything away for free, we do have a few projects and products under $500 listed on our website: CLICK HERE to view our catalog.

Happy New Year!

  5. Thanks! We are hoping the Sugar community will pick this up and improve on what we started as just a side project.

  6. I am testing the theme. Great! but there is a lot of work to do yet. Would like to contribute. One of the things is that “#user_link” needs to have a width attribute, because a large user name goes two lines.
Company Logo displays in the center. I am dealing with this.
May I have access to git? or want me to submit the code in another way?

  8. Hi Amanda,
I am also very interesting in this nice theme. But unfortunately the link is broken. Do you have new one for me? Thanks in advance!

    Best regards

  9. Hi Daniel,

As of yesterday, we took the google theme off github. The engineer that worked on it as his side project found a critical issue with the code. We intend to repost a clean version at a later date. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  12. RE: Daniel and Muhammad-

Danny, the author of the Google theme, is heads down on a major client project right now. The project deadline is end of November, so I can’t really estimate a release date right now. The clean version likely won’t be reposted before the end of November though. I will give an update around that time and hope to have a release date by then. Sorry for the delay and any inconvenience this may have caused by us taking the code down.

  14. Hi Karel. Danny is working on a customer project with a hard deadline. He should be able to get to it some time in December when that projects wraps up. I’ll keep you posted on it. Sorry for the inconvenience!
